FIVE STAR Review by Lesley Jones of Readers' Favorite:Inch by Inch by Donna LeClair is a thought-provoking amalgamation of life lessons and stories told from the perspective of inspirational women who overcome adversity to make a difference in the future of humankind. Negative thought processes regarding mankind and misfortune are challenged and positive mindsets are encouraged. The life experiences of renowned figures in history, such as Helen Keller, Maya Angelou and Anne Frank, are relayed to expose the truth that challenges in life shape us and the way we view our problems can either hinder or strengthen us. Take one belief and one goal and overcome it one step at a time. We can either allow our past to break our will or enhance it. Are you living life authentically or for others? What are the opportunities you are missing because your mental focus is on your problems and not on future opportunities? If you step outside your own life movie and zoom the camera lens outwards, you too have the ability to make a difference to your life and those of others.I thoroughly enjoyed this book for several reasons, including the creative and beautifully penned narrative and also the unique idea behind the book. There are many home truths that I have faced since reading this book and I believe every reader will also be blown away with the life lessons throughout. Particular areas that struck a chord with me was how people are so engrossed in their own problems that they do not see the world around them and they miss such fantastic opportunities. People can be so disingenuous and not be true to themselves or others. They are so busy living up to unrealistic expectations, trying to be like others around them, that they fail to recognize their strengths and talents. The women's stories of triumph in such bleak circumstances inspired my thought processes dramatically, especially Maya Angelou and Rosalind Russell. One quote from the book that will stay with me is: ‘Surrender our power or rise above obstacles and circumstances.’
